Collaboration, Sharing, Helping, Togetherness: The Drivers of the New Work Environment

In a blogpost in Huffington post, blogger Gustavo Tanaka shared a few personal observations about trends and changes taking place in the workplace.

The drivers and trends he puts forth are the following:

  1. People no longer want to work in the large corporate environment
  2. The rise of collaboration as people realise it does not make any sense to go on by yourself. Sharing, collaborative economy concepts are being implemented, and it points towards a new direction of collaborating, sharing, helping, and togetherness
  3. The Internet has become the enabler of such collaboration and it has given power and a voice to the small
  4. End of mega consumerism: Low consumerism, mindful life and slow food have become more important than getting your hands on the latest of everything. More people are swapping clothes, buying used goods, sharing assets, cars, apartments, offices
  5. Healthy and organic eating. As we change our mind-set, our eating habits and our way of consuming, corporations will respond and adapt to a new market. The small farmer is getting back to being relevant to the whole chain of production. People are even growing plants and seeds inside their homes
  6. Mindfulness continues as companies are providing meditation to their employees and schools are teaching the young how to meditate
  7. Un-schooling is trending and home-schooling is rising
