Johan Engelbrecht
Johan holds an Honours Degree from the University of Pretoria in Political Science & International Politics and served in the South African civil service for 14 years. His career started in 1981 as a junior analyst and progressed to being responsible for strategic research and analysis projects. Johan served in London, UK, for two years and liaised with counterparts in most European and African countries. Apart from receiving the departmental Researcher of the Year Award in 1992, he was also permanently involved as advisor to the South African national negotiation process (CODESA), during which time he gave frequent presentations to interim and new government executive bodies.
During 1996, Johan became the first franchisee of a well known international printing franchise in South Africa. Bestowed with numerous rewards from Minuteman International, the business soon became a preferred supplier of printed material in Pretoria and enjoyed support from all over the country. Having mastered the practical detail of business management, Johan engaged in business and competitive intelligence consultancy during 2005. Apart from assisting various businesses with planning, production expansion and competitor analysis, he has been acting as project manager and team member on numerous research projects covering a range of industries and socio-political frameworks. These include telecommunications, retail, health, insurance, liquor, energy and risk analyses of African states. Furthermore, Johan fulfilled a leading role in various market research projects for leading companies and civil departments where extensive application of qualitative and quantitative methodology is a prerequisite for successful completion.
He is an associate of IBIS since 2009.
